Which Web Browser Should I Choose?

It used be much easier to decide which browser to use. Almost everyone used Internet Explorer but now there is several other options like Firefox and Chrome (as well as Safari and Opera although they are not as widely known).

Internet Explorer used to be thought of as the only way to browse the internet. It’s installed on every Windows computer by default. People are switching to other browsers now and it has lost a great deal of its market share. Internet Explorer is actually slower than Chrome and Firefox. It evens displays website incorrectly at times. It may even slow down your computer. There is also a long line of security issues IE is know to have. Internet Explorer is not recommended and you can easily transfer any settings and bookmarks you have.

Firefox was designed for speed and simplicity. It is much quicker than Internet Explorer displays almost all websites correctly. Firefox is also known to be strong with security and its easy to customize too. Some of the things you can change are buttons, colors and layouts. There are many extensions you can download free to enhance your browsing experience as well. And of course, Firefox has regular upgrades that continue to improve its speed and stability and add new features.

Chrome is the newest major browser. It rose to one of the top browsers very quickly. It IS made by Google though,so did you expect anything less? Chrome has proven to be the fastest browser in all browsing tests. And it complies with Web standards by 100% while Firefox comes in at 93%. Google has already begun taking over the world with its search engine, email, calendar, etc and now in internet browsing as well. Chrome is very secure as well and has a few security features Firefox does not have yet.

There is a slight learning curve when switching to Chrome but it is worth it. It gives you more screen area to work with so the interface is streamlined.

Remember that regardless of the browser you use, you still need to run security software and secure your browser. Stop by the store and ask one of our technicians how to do that the best way.
